What does "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment" mean?

Hi there, I sent a box full of gifts to my boyfriend in the U S (I live in Belgium) 
But the USPS status is stuck on Origin Post is Preparing Shipment.

What I don't understand is that when I called my post office they said it was IN the U S waiting for USPS to pick up the box. 

Is that true?

Here is what the USPS tracking says : 

-Origin Post is Preparing Shipment
-Foreign International Dispatch, December 09, 2010, 11:55 pm, BRUSSELS EUROPEAN MAIL CENTRE, BELGIUM
-Foreign Acceptance, December 08, 2010, 12:30 pm

It's stuck since december 9.

Here is what my post office in belgium says 

09/12/2010  23:55  Departure from office of exchange  
08/12/2010 20:55 Your parcel has been sorted Antwerpen X Parcel Sorter
08/12/2010 12:21 Parcel accepted in network JETTE FERDINAND LENOIR

So what now? Where is the parcel?
I need him to have it before Christmas!
