notebook laptop Microsoft office question?

Hello I recently purchased a notebook, it has microsoft office on it but it keeps asking me for the product key. Do i need to buy it or do I actually have a key already with the purchase of the notebook? If i do need a key is there anyway for buy one or get one with out paying 150 bucks?
