INTERNET HELP. SOMEONE PLEASE :o?

okay well my step dad has recently decided, after how many years of having wireless connectivity to our router from my laptop – to suddenly disable it and make me have to use a direct cable plug from the router to my laptop in order to access internet! i dont know technical names and that, but i just need help! is there a way to get my wireless internet back! and theres no way to appeal to him, ive tried it, i just need to know theres something i can do to get my normal wifi back cause im in senior year and i cant have my laptop in the family room!!?? also if it helps – the icon at the bottom of the computer screen which usually is some mini computer screen that flashes – has now changed to TWO mini computer screens which flash?!
